SUN CHILD synopsis

Prince Tut commences the final year of his carefree youth at only age 8, in the City of the Sun, AkhetAten. His closest friends are twice his age, yet he has won their loyalty and willingness to follow his lead, hunting on the river, contests in archery and horsemanship, trips to the Pyramids, and attempts on his life.

A cobra found in Tut’s garden alarms his cousin, Queen PaAten, who then consults a forbidden “Magic Mirror”, and views the CoRegent’s tutor secretly meeting the disenfranchised Priest of Amen-Re, the chief of the Gods Pharaoh Akhenaten has repudiated.

The CoRegent Sakare, Tut’s adored older brother, leaves for Thebes on a quest for forbidden knowledge, allows forbidden gods to possess him and receives a “Magic Rod” that animates statues.

The CoRegent later quarrels with Pharaoh about his plans for a Jubilee, unwilling to give up one of his coronation names and only agrees in hopes of gaining supporters.

In Memphis Prince Tut and the boys learn how to make their own ‘magic rods’ to make the hieroglyphs speak and yield secret messages, then stumble on a secret meeting of masked conspirators.

As Sakare’s insidious plot unfolds, Tut, PaAten and the Children, Tut's Royal schoolmates, try to foil it, but Sakare manages to stab the king and get away. Pharaoh survives but fades away after Sakare is killed by a cobra while trying to avoid capture.
The wounded Pharaoh wreaks harsh revenge for his betrayal, denying Sakare his name and his face in his tomb.

When Tut proposes an alliance with PaAten, she persuades him to lead the soul of her father on a forbidden journey to the Stars. The Gods reluctantly accept the renegade soul, with a heavy price for the future King.
